What You Can Expect

An empathetic, connected experience geared toward empowerment. I work to unburden you from the specific issues that hold you back, help your system find balance, and empower you to reach your peak.

I enjoy customizing the professional relationship to meet your needs optimally. Based on your discovery call and often one or two initial sessions, this could include ongoing sessions, a discounted package or subscription, or a more extensive and involved working relationship,

While my practice primarily involved counseling and psychotherapy for years, I have progressively realized that maximum health and well being often require a variety of wellness techniques that lie beyond this scope. As a result, I am trained in a variety of holistic modalities, such as Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA), Bio Systems Integration (BSI), a variety of energy techniques, and more.

For coaching clients, I employ these techniques to address a variety of mindset blocks, mind-body and nervous system imbalances, and various other impediments to health and wellness that are beyond the scope of psychotherapy. For counseling and psychotherapy clients, these techniques may be used supplementally.

I encourage you to book a discovery call to discuss your specific needs.

In our work together, I aim to:

  • Identify and resolve the specific mind-body factors that impede system balance and maximum wellness

  • Achieve whole body congruence with how you want to think, feel, and live

  • Maximize performance of all types, including athletic, business, and more

  • Re-pattern your nervous system and harmonize other body systems to enhance your overall functioning

  • Resolve blocks between your conscious and subconscious that sabotage your goals

  • Treat mental health disorders such as OCD, PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression as permitted by license and location

  • Address energetic and metaphysical energy imbalances

  • Customize the work to your specific needs and desires

In my twenties, I returned to the environment of my childhood including through volunteer work in multiple childhood settings. Being there again triggered what had previously been present in the background but had never fully overtaken me: longstanding obsessive and perfectionistic tendencies that intensified into severe OCD. While the tendencies had always been present, this environment magnified them to the point where I could no longer bypass or suppress them. My days became dominated by compulsive checking, intrusive thoughts, and constant mental vigilance. Suddenly, I was engaging in compulsive checking rituals that ruined weekend trips and led to near sleepless nights. I found myself afraid to interact on social media, or even in person, fearing irrational behavior and the resulting judgment. At my worst, I couldn’t fully trust my own mind. What had once limited my ability to reach my potential now began sabotaging my ability to function at all.

Eventually, I reached a point where I could no longer carry the burden alone. I sat down with a close family member and said, “I’m miserable.” He responded with quiet honesty: he already knew. That moment required more strength than I realized at the time. I knew, intellectually, that life still held the possibility of good things, but emotionally it felt completely out of reach. Misery had become my constant companion.

That family member graciously supported me and introduced me to Brain Lock by Jeffrey Schwartz. It was the only resource I had at the time. Over the course of a year, it helped me regain stability, and over the following year, I slowly reclaimed my life. Later, through professional training, I realized that this very difficult journey could have been less scary and lonely, better supported, and likely shorter with proper professional guidance. That realization directly informs how I work with clients today.

As I recovered and grew into leadership roles consistent with my upbringing, my worldview continued to expand in ways that no longer fit frameworks as rigid or dogmatic. I befriended a reformed addict whose honesty and lived experience challenged my assumptions. Through him, I was introduced to trauma-informed, introspective intervention work focused on genuine change rather than external pressure.

Training in this work with the Family Peace Initiative in Topeka, KS, fundamentally altered the trajectory of my life. For the first time, I encountered a framework that emphasized emotional maturity, accountability, self-reflection, and authentic human connection. Through these trauma-informed trainings, I also became close with a therapist who helped me confront dynamics I had been conditioned to repeat but no longer believed. Acknowledging that truth was painful, but it marked the beginning of real expansion.

I’m Timothy Erin Rush and here’s my story.

I grew up in a rural environment in southwest Kansas shaped by a gritty agricultural mentality and perfectionistic expectations. People were expected to work hard, stay disciplined, and do what was sensible. My childhood and young adulthood were defined by playing it safe and taking few risks, not by exploring who I was or what I truly wanted.

Competitive golf became one of the first places where this internal conflict became clear. I pursued it seriously and had real talent, but my relationship with performance was all or nothing. Either I imagined an extremely successful professional future, or I defaulted to staying small and safe. I could not get out of my own way mentally. Pressure, obsessive thinking, and perfectionism made it impossible to fully access my potential. I had talent and ability, but I lacked the internal resources to move through the mental blocks that sabotaged me.

My pattern followed me into other areas of life. After high school, I earned a finance and economics degree because it seemed practical rather than inspiring. I worked at the family business both to support myself and because it felt like the “right” thing to do. I was talented, working hard, yet running in place. It was a very black-and-white way of living, with no sense of how to build a meaningful life in the middle.

If I knew there were alternatives to this way of living, I did not believe they were for me. I did not believe that I was allowed to want a life that felt aligned or that I could build one even without guarantees of exceptional success. I had no model for choosing something because I loved it and letting it grow into a life over time.

Soon I wanted to help people in a way that honored the full human experience. In late 2018, I enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Fort Hays State University. This was the first major decision I made not because it promised status, money, or certainty, but because it felt aligned. For the first time, I was willing to build a life without guarantees, simply because the work mattered to me.

My move to Topeka was driven by a desire to learn more deeply from key connections in the counseling field that had inspired me so deeply. After completing my professional internship, my father encouraged me to start my own practice. This was a simple expression of belief that carried enormous weight. That grounded support is something I now strive to give my clients.

During my training, I pursued deeper emotional work for myself and became trained in EMDR, a modality I had previously experienced as a client. While this process was illuminating, I discovered Neuro Emotional Technique through a practitioner who utilizes Applied Kinesiology. The impact was immediate and profound. The emotional release work reached places that other techniques could not. I attended my first NET training in Chicago in 2021, became certified, and it now forms a cornerstone of my practice. I have since expanded my work to include Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA), Bio Systems Integration (BSI), energetic and metaphysical release modalities, and nutritional support to address the whole system.

My private practice has grown in ways I never could have imagined earlier in life when I was seeking direction. More importantly, I have reached a level of inner peace that once felt impossible.

Perfectionism no longer runs my life, and internal battles have softened toward balance and clarity. This lived experience allows me to guide clients with authenticity, humility, and deep empathy. Today, I offer wellness and performance coaching alongside counseling, using a variety of integrative approaches designed to address emotional, neurological, and subconscious patterns, not just cognitive narratives. Too often, traditional therapy tries to talk people out of problems that were created by unprocessed experiences stored in the body.

We do not experience life as it is. We experience life through the lens of our entire past. Until that emotional, physical, and mental reality shifts, the lens remains distorted. My work is about helping you reclaim that lens–helping you resolve what has been holding you back so your potential does not languish, but thrives. I aim to help people move beyond internal blockages and build a grounded, meaningful life without illusions of perfection–or anything else–holding them back.

I have lived the journey from internal conflict to internal coherence. I know what becomes possible when old patterns stop running the show. My goal is to help people from all walks of life free themselves from the burden of inherited programming, experience the same transformation that I have, and step into a life of their own choosing. I look forward to working with you so you can cultivate the life you want and live as the most aligned version of yourself.

Outside the Office

I have a strong passion for connection with those I love most. This includes my black lab mix Mason, my family and friends, and the many colleagues I have met doing this work that focuses on energetic harmony and balance. They add to my life specific and enduring sparks.

I love nature, especially the beach, palm trees, and water. I enjoy traveling to new places where variety abounds and experiencing the vibrancy of new environments. While who I do it with is often most important, I relish experiencing the energy of new places and the shared experience and laughter that we can never forget.

Craft beer, fine whiskey, or a good margarita all make the sunsets even better, and coffee in the morning is the day’s first prerequisite even on hot yoga days (with optional adrenal supplements to follow). When I have free time, I enjoy going on even longer walks with Mason, watching him bask in the sun, reading perspective enhancing books, dipping my toes in the stock market, following sports especially football and basketball, and cooking up creative meals in my increasingly well-seasoned cast iron cookware (and preferably eating them on the back porch). Recently, I have especially enjoyed becoming a student of the “Enneagram”.

Personally, I believe that we can only take others as far as we have gone in our own healing work. While this work is never completed, connecting with my colleagues turned lifelong friends at seminars—or just in daily life—and the work we do together empowers me, harmonizes my energy, and propels me toward my best as a person and practitioner.
